Adornment
clothing that celebrates
a singular body
Clothing is the designed object in closest contact with a person — worn against the skin, all day, seen by everyone. It is also the one most often made for an average that describes almost nobody.
What we are studying
How standard sizing fails, and who it fails hardest. The interesting work begins exactly where the size chart stops being true.
What a garment does to posture and mood. The right shoulder line changes how a person walks into a room; the wrong waist changes what they think about all afternoon.
Fibre, drape and weight — how linen, wool, cotton and silk behave over years, and what people keep for twenty years and why they kept it.
What we are making
Patterns drafted to a specific body rather than adjusted toward one, so the garment supports and elevates what is singular about it.
A small wardrobe whose pieces work with one another, in natural materials chosen to improve with age rather than survive a season.
Construction that can be altered, let out, taken in and repaired — seams generous enough for a body that will change, because it will.
Where it is going
A fitting method, a core wardrobe, and a materials library any maker can work from.
